August
2002,
Wired at Nitinat Lake, BC a big success with sponsorship and free harnesses,
coffee, pastries from Windsurfdeals.com. The mobile (extremely low
overhead) office of Windsurfdeals.com. Lots of photos of the racing
here.
Personal board tuning advise from Rob of Robert's boards
Personal sail tuning advise from Bruce Peterson of Sailworks
Don't let the photos fool you, many of us were on 4.5m all day
Saturday, then on 6.0s the sunday and Monday - but stay away, don't drive to
Nitinat it is an awful place to sail, always raining, never windy, stay away,
don't go, there are too many people there already!
July 2002, UPDATE: WA State Park
Commissioners keep parks open on trial basis for FEES (5 stinking bucks at the
Hatch). For further details please visit and support the
Columbia Gorge
Windsurfing Association.
Save access to the Columbia Gorge - The Hatchery
April 2, 2002 Due to state-wide budget cuts
Washington State Parks will be canceling their lease and discontinuing their
operations at The Hatchery, Maryhill and Crow Butte after this September.
In total 13 parks will be closed.
We can work to reverse this decision (this has had success
many times at Doug's Beach, WA). Please send letters detailing how
visiting these areas is important to you and that you spend considerable amounts
of money in the local Washington communities. Please point out how the
management of these areas by the Washington Parks Service adds value to your
visits. Please cc all letters to the CGWA so they
can print off copies and pile them on the Park Commissioner's and Senators'
desks.
For a sample letter that you can cut, paste, and use as a
template go here (MS Word document). Note: It is my preference to simply
create one letter for all recipients and let them all know that you sent it to
all of the others - this creates a sort of 'peer pressure' for each recipient to
act accordingly.
